Pumpkin feeding frenzy

Amber Waves Pygmy Goats Vitamin ADE

I had a bunch of pumpkins on my front steps left over from halloween and thanksgiving and I noticed a squirl was starting to eat into one so I decided to bring them inside to preserve them a little longer (we had one in the past last till April!) I had a really neat big pumpkin and started to roll that baby so I could pick it up (good 30 pounder).. well, my grip slipped, and the bottom cracked so I decided to see if the goats would like a bit.

I put it on my milkstand and started to cut through it, split it and took some seeds out to plant for next year. I cubed it and threw a few in the dishes.

TALK ABOUT needing a shark cage!!! THEY LOVED IT!!! I know that my pigs use to love pumpkins, and the chickens would eat it to the rind, and it was originally grown as cattle feed. Add goats to the list! I think that next year I may save more in my basement and keep them as winter fodder - nice juicy plant life for the goaties in the cold of winter.

Oh yeah - snow was a bit of a disapointment. (not that I'm complaining!!!!) Had about 2-3" so the kids just stayed on the hay paths, and eventuially realized that the snow won't melt them! I'll wait for a good snow storm for pictures. Hopefully by then santa will have put a nice digital cam in my stocking :-)

Hope everyone is staying warm (in cold weather areas) and dry if you're luck enough to live in a nice warm climate!
