Our pregnant doe Mary - update

Well, I'm not sure where my "full moon" theory went but it's certainly not correct this time. The 5 day window of the full moon has passed and no kids. Now I'm thinking it will be next month. Hmmm. This goat has fooled me before.

One thing I've noted with Saanen goats, they are pretty determined goats. We've had Mary 4 years now I think. She has given twins every time and always a doe that is white and a buck that is brown with white tinges. But the funny thing about her is that if there is a way to get out, she will find it. And if there isn't a way out, she make one.

I was feeling pretty proud of my cattle panel fencing I was until I went out to find her eating grass on the other side. I looked and looked and finally found where she had pushed up against where the panel and t-post meet at the bottom and created just enough of a space to get through. Luckily none of the other goats found that spot.

When we got our first goats and the fencing was pretty much a joke, we used to tie them out on runners. She was the only one that literally broke a chain link on the runner to get free. Anyone else that has Saanens notice this behavior?

Well anyway, I know she'll surprise me with kids here soon. It's been close to 150 days but I thought for sure it was time about 6 days ago.

Best regards,

Gary
