Jeanie is a very lucky girl thanks to you! I don't think I could have done a better job myself with out panic. I know that at work, we always keep some therabloat hanging around the medicine room - every spring, or when weaning calves we always have one that bloat up to look like the goodyear blimp (but furry and much more yuckie smelling from that gas!) We tube em with the mix and it usually does the trick. I am deathly afraid to have to use a toacar (sp?) a sharp straw like punch you use on the left side where the rumen is - up high so when you have a bad case of bloat, it punctures through to the rumen and lets out the gas. I'm too chicken for that one. Many farmers use a 14 gag needle on bloated calves, and I'm sure you could do the same witha bad case of bloat with a goat.... but the fear of peratinitis just scares me to death, and knowing where to stab that thing.. ugh..!
Congrats! I'm sure she'll thank you for saving her althought being able to see her up and about is enough thanks I'm sure!
