The freezer is a good idea we used to use one, but I am a bit low on one end and it got to be very difficult to get feed out. One thing I noticed though, mice can get in if you take the rubber seal off. We removed the seal for saftey reasons we have small children and didn't want them getting locked in. If you take the lock off the animals can open it up. If you leave the seal on the freezer will sweat rotting the grain..probally not a big deal in the winter just thought I'd give you the head up just in case.
