Yes, the money was high. 25.00 for office call and 45.00 for the culture. If she hadn't been a special goat I probably would have assumed she was positive and had given her away to a friend I have that has CL in her herd and just deals with it. So I guess it gives hope to some who have suspicious looking lumps that it may not be CL. The vet upon examination actually thought that it was CL. On the other note, I had a friend who took a doe to be bred and a short time later she developed a CL abcess. They had just trimmed her feet before she went to be bred and figure that is how she probably got it. Her abcess was in a rear thigh. She sent the doe to auction and someone bought her, took her to the same vet for treatment and the vet said take her back to auction! That is why I don't believe sale barning is the best way to deal with culling animals. I guess sometimes you have no choice.
