Hi Nat,
I have heard several things about pumpkins (specifically the seeds) and goats and am curious to find out how true they are. I cannot remember where I heard or read it, but someplace in the course of research I heard that pumpkin seeds are a natural wormer for goats and sheep. It would be interesting to find out. Maybe I heard it on a holistic site.
Given your experience showing how much goats like pumpkins, that would be a pretty good deal to grow enough pumpkins for the deworming properties as well as winter forage. I just wish I could get more stuff to grow around here. We grew alot of pumpkins when I lived in Oregon but here is a different story.
I pretty much gave up on gardening a couple of years ago. I had planted everything under the sun and wouldn't you know it, the goats got out everytime something was getting ready to harvest. I was especially beefed over my tomatoes and watermelons. Had some nice ones oneday and all it took was about 15 minutes for the plants to be reduced to stubs.
Our weather has been totally weird here. No snow yet but it's raining tonight. Last year this time we had a foot or two and it lasted until the week before Christmas. Made for late shopping that time. But I know we are going to pay for this Indian summer we are having. Stay warm and dry.
Best regards,
Gary
