Hi folks,
Some of you may remember my "full moon" theory. If not, I'll refresh here briefly. It is my theory (and some others as well) that for the most part, goats raised outside will most often kid close to the full moon of the month. I've found that either five days either side of the full moon is the target date. That's ten days leeway but it has worked out almost everytime for our goats.
Well tonight being the full moon, I'm looking at our Saanen doe Mary to kid anytime now. She's been acting reserved the last couple of days, pawing at the ground and just standing there. Hmmm... I've got the feeling that I might wake tomorrow and find twins. Each kidding she has produced twins so I'm pretty sure that's what it will be again this time. I'll let you all know.
Best regards,
Gary Pfalzbot
