Weight Gain Just stops

Posted by timj on November 20, 2001 at 11:32:56:

Hi, We have boer goats some full and some crosses. Over the past year we have been battling a problem of weight gains stopping in the fourth week. For instance a baby would get from 17 to 20 pounds by week four and then only gain a couple of pounds over the next 30 days. Over 30 babies have done about the same routine. These kids get to 40 lbs in about 6 months. Way short of the normal 60 - 100 pounds the breed should bring. The kids dont die, or poop mud or act depressed. What might cause this?
