Hi Wendy,

I tend to agree with Maggie on this one. I've noticed that whenever we introduce a new buck in with the does, they will tend to chase them off for awhile before settling in. I think it has alot to do with not only the pecking order, but because (if he's not a whether), the future sire of their offspring. I'd say his overall size has alot to do with the situation at this point though. Your nanny is just establishing her dominance in the herd. Goats are funny that way. I like to relate it to Maslows Hierarchy of Needs (a psychological term) - Food, Shelter, Sex and Water are the basic needs. I think with goats it probably runs as Food, Water, Shelter and Sex though.

Best regards,
