That helps a bit more. I've heard of incorrect banding but you're right, complications would not be likely several weeks down the road. You did say he was urinating correctly right? It's always possible that he has a urinary infection - something like that may be possible later on.
I would be more inclined to think it is nutrition related at this point. Try giving him a jump with the nutri-drench or some karo syrup each day and see what happens. Of course the vitamins and minerals have to be there as well; selenium, magnesium, thiamine, iron, copper, etc.
While I'm certainly not an expert on the Boers I do know that some of them have very docile personalities, say as opposed to Spanish goats. Some of our Boer billies are real gentle whereas I've seen others (mainly crosses) that you can't get very close to. But I know what you mean, a sluggish goat is something to worry about - especially what you are describing - that sounds almost too laid back.
But something I've really taken an interest in of late is the "behavioral/personality" aspects of goats. Some might be thinking, "I wonder what ol' Gary is smoking tonight" but I think there is alot to this way of thinking - as much as people using holistic remedies.
Considering that this wether is nine months, he probably would just now be showing a strong interest in your does. That desire may still be there somewhat but he may be going through the adjustment to his inability. I don't know. Sounds a little far fetched but entirely possible I suppose.
Give the nutri-drench a try and keep us posted. It has to be something. Figuring out what is always the challenge.
