Unless you have xray vision you don't know what your wormer is doing. To run your worm management with any kind of efficency you have to fecal, either yourself or your vet. Here, Ivermectin injected does work for lice, mites and nose bots, but the kill is very poor on stomach worms. It speeds through the goats quick metabolism so quickly it doesn't have time to do its job. Now orally it does great, and we use it on our bucks and dry stock, it has no milk withdrawl time so we simply don't use it on our milkers. I also use Valbazen on all my kids, and will always use it, it is the broadest spectrum wormer we have and I use it at 8cc per 100 pounds. Horror of horrors though we are having resistance to it in our adult stock and last year moved from the 6cc per 100 pounds to the 8 cc per 100 pounds. I am out on the pour ons until more folks have used them, yes we know they work orally great on our goats, I even used it on a trial with some broker dose who were known resistant to Ivermectin. It worked great, but I really feel it is to the detrement of the goats liver. I would like to see some studies done on the feed through wormers, know Dr. Craig at Texas A&M was going to do one, I don't know if it is through yet. The Golden Blend wormers and their knock offs that you use monthly sound like a really good idea, especially for pastured stock, but when you get right down to it, I haven't yet to find anyone using them who fecals and can tell me what worms it is working on! So......Vicki
