In my opinion, which is based on observation since 1989, all it would take for the LM/Boer cross wether market to take off is for one to win a couple of major shows or win on the circuit. I am not yet convinced the LM's have a better temperament with other goats. The LM breeder I do milk test for has some pretty tough girls, although they are quieter than the Nubians. The problem you have when crossing Boer with dairy breeds is that part of the time you are going to get the dairy legs, too fine boned, not enough meat on the back legs. The market seems to have gone to at least 3/4 to full Boer. I like the 7/8 with a dash of Nubian for height and length and a dash of Stiff leg to thicken the rump.
