Even Goat Medicine tells you to give antibiotics subq (under the skin) rather than in the muscle. With this fever I would have also given banamine. I would switch to under the skin, and check your dosage of LA200 over at saanendoah.com.
Antibiotics especially over the counter ones necrose the muscle, and yes where are you going to give that 5th shot? I do use Naxcel in the muscle.
Lori, your goats are having pretty normal symptoms. Lots of goats come down with shipping fever after being moved to a new home, that is where you ID-1 comes in so handy, boosting the immune response in your goats to begin with. Sore mouth is everywhere, so is pinkeye, lice, mites, fleas, worms and cocci :) When you first get goats and stress them, they are just bound to come down with all this stuff. I think its Gods way of weeding out the weak! Not the weak goats but the weak goat owners!! LOL Vicki
