It sound slike nutrition may be a factor in this problem. I would suggest graining your milkers. Nutrition is so important to goats, not only milkers, but others too. Are you feeding mineral, baking soda, kelp, yeast, etc? that may help as well. Get some 2:1 minerals to feed them, and the kids too. Try also adding BOSS, black Oil Sunflower Seeds for their coats. They may be sleinium deficient as well and mabye copper . i don't have addy handy, but go to the saanandoah website for specific information on nutrition. Have you given them a BO-Se shot yet?
Feeding good alfalfa hay will help, but it won't improve the condition on its own, you need to consider their nutritional needs as well. I'd feed a 16% Sweet feed. such as nutreana, Blue Seal, etc.
