I try to band and disbud at the same time. I've done it as early as three days and as late as 10 weeks depending on when I could get a good grasp on the little buggers! I like the three day scenario the best! So much easier to do and the younger they are the less they seem to be bothered by it.
I'm with Vicki about the men being more "tender-hearted about the castrations. My husband cringes every time...but he doesn't think twice about wanting every female animal on the place bred! That's the one I identify with!
