We band all of our little guys. He may be in pain for a day or 2 but in the long run you and he will be much happier. Get the band as low down, close to the testicles as possible. After one week we cut the sac off, spray with antiseptic and usually have no problems. You may want to check him and spray for another time or two. After you band him go back in about an hour and get him up and make him stay up till you see him urinate, that will mean you didn't catch any of the plumbing under the band. Like Vickie says, goats don't respond well to anesthetic. Be sure he has had his CDT or give him a tetnus shot.
