We have a guard llama, but in a situation where you have a PACK or a mountain lion a llama cannot defend itself.In the first case, it is outnumbered-and in the second it is overpowered.
Plus, between seasons, when there are no goats to keep him company, the llama, which is also a herd animal would be terribly lonely.
