There is a blurb on it in Goat Medicine, it is carried in the lungs, I believe it is cornybacterium, the bacteria anyway. A friend of ours also had some mysterious lumps, he also butchers for several folks. The lumps turned out to be staph, but I was worried also Gary that this was going to turn out to be CL. Nat don't waste your money on blood testing for Johnees, it is a fecal test, otherwise the cattle industry would be using our Ellisa test if it worked at all, and they don't. Sending blood in for CAE and CL is fine, another cheaper alternative is to send colostrum from all your does as they freshen to Pan American in Austin TX. They run CAE tests on colostrum for 6$, no blood to pull and you don't have to send it one day mail iced! Good luck with your tests! Vicki
