It's possible to keep just one goat but I have to repeat something I read once...A goat alone is a goat in trouble! It has been my experience if one is left alone he/she is usually in trouble finding something to occupy him/her instead of playing with a buddy. For example, getting out of the fence and jumping on your car!
They are herd animals and I don't believe they do well when they are alone. If this little guy is going to be the only goat then you have to be his "herd" and spend a lot of time with him. Wethers are so easy to keep and cost so little to feed where's the harm or the trouble in getting another one?
As for spoiling him....there were over 30 kids born here this year and every single one of them started their lives in my house! When kidding season rolls around I drag out boxes and such and there's a little kid jumping gym in my living room floor until they are all old enough (and the weather permits) to go outside. There's simply no such thing as spoiling them too much! Have a blast! Goats are Great!
