Yep...it's just a pet name for a LaMancha. Like Nubie is for Nubian! Sometimes I call mine Monkeys because that's what they look like when they're babies!
I've given and heard all kinds of reasons for the ears! One little fella at a fair told his sister "they close up at night like flowers"! I thought that was so cute!
I am totally NOT political but one guy that comes around here is Republican to the core (bet he has elephants (or are they the donkeys? SEE!!) on his undies). Anyway, he asked what was wrong with their ears and before I thought I said "Since you put a Republican in the White House, we poor people have to eat something!" He hasn't been back since! My newest reply is going to be "They saw me naked and their ears fell off!". I may put that one on the farm flyer!
