Can I get some prayers please?

My yearling nubian somehow managed to tear off one of his rear claws. My farrier (who happened to be there, by some lucky stroke) helped me clean it up and his opinion is that the coffin bone's also broken. I'm not sure I've ever seen an injury like this before ... the whole hoof's gone, and all the internal tissues are raw and exposed. Bone showing. Definitely nasty. The shoer referred this one to the vet after getting a good look at it.

Sigh ... my large animal vet clinic, which normally does emergencies, had a message on their machine referring me to an emergency small animal clinic, forty miles away. Goat's there now, they don't know much about goats, but at least they can clean the wound out (it was packed with fresh manure when I found him ... sigh) and start him on antiobiotics and have meds on hand in case he goes into shock. (He was shocky when I found him, actually looked better when I got him to the vet's.)

Tomorrow, I drag him off to my own vet for x-rays (they didn't have a portable x-ray machine and he's too big to put on a table) and for a better opinion on that foot. Then get my shoer to build him a plastic hoof if it looks like the foot's salvageable ...

This guy's a sweety -- I've been doing a ton of work with him. His destiny in life was to be my pack string leader ... sigh.

Can everyone say a prayer, asking that he doesn't lose that claw?
