I would bet that the majority of the goats on this forum have 103 temps during the heat of the day, especially if they are dark in color. But then Kay and I live in TEXAS!! I also know that when my herd was larger I didn't even notice goats with snotty noses, now with my herd much smaller, everyone gets such individual care that I would notice it, but notice it is all I would do. I would continue to watch to see what is going on, if it turns green or I hear her wheezing then I would take a temp, then if it was elevated, I would take another goats temp to see what hers was. Then if it was higher I would start her on a good antibiotic for upper respiratory, Tylan or Naxcel. I would also give banamine for the fever, immediatly start her on Probios, if she was off feed at all then Goat Nutradrench and on young stock and very old stock ID-1, and new stock. All your B vitamins can be found in horse catalogs in tubes just like probios jeffersequine.com and unitedvetequine.com
With your goats being new, you are going to have all these little problems for awhile. Boost there immunity with ID-1. Your goats do not have Listerosis :) Moldy grain and hay is the culprit with that, and happens very infrequently. It is one of a list of diseases though that I do use in my plight of having all new folks with new goats pasturise the milk before drinking it though! By the time you had diagnosed Listerosis she would be over the fever, which is the major symptom differing it from other neurological diseases, and the fever is when she is contagious, though she certainly wouldn't be milking much she would be milking! You don't want me to go there though :) Vicki
