Hi Nat,

I'm really sorry to hear about this happening but one good sign is that the goat is still alive. I would think that the goat should be treated much in the same way that a person getting struck by lightening would be treated. Of course hooking the goat up to an EKG machine might not be practical but that would be my first thought - doe the goat have regular sinus rhythm.

One interesting thing might come out of all this - I have only known a couple of people that have been struck by lightening and survived. Sounds as if the goat caught just a piece of the action albeit pretty devastating. People that survive getting struck say that strange things happened afterwards such as a friend of mine who "had" arthritis - it was suddenly cured. The trade off for him was tininitis (ringing in the ears).

Sure hope the goat makes it. Personally I would be real careful not to put any more stress on the goat for awhile until you know for sure that it is going to be okay. That would include not shaving it or anything like that. Just my opinion. Please keep us posted.

Best regards,

Gary Pfalzbot
