I'm sorry about your horse. I thought I was going to loose mine the other day when the heat started. I began feeding hay and my 26y-o gelding with no teeth choked on it. (he gets special $$ chopped hay all winter) At this point in life, especially with his failing health and arthritis (had a poor life before he came to stay with me hence his age and condition) a vet call = a euthanasia call so after struggling for a day 1/2, he recovered from the choke. (our vet charges incredible farm emergency calls, and after a very expensive visit this spring combined with many bills this month.... you get the idea.) Its always hard to lose one.. this fall is his date.. hopefully not yet.
