Scroll down to Debbie's post about pinkeye and read Vicki's response. She explains the reasoning behind LA200 (another brand of oxytetracycline) better than I can. Giving that stuff under the skin is actually less painful than IM. My vet says any place you can pick up a tent of skin is fine. I usually pull it up on their sides just above the "armpits". My husband straddles them, squeezes them between his legs and pulls up skin on the back hip. (It's a real hoot to watch!) If it were me, I would still continue washing their faces and eyes. It not only makes them more comfortable but would help keep the flies away. I would also continue with an ointment or spray in the eyes to avoid an infection.
