I really have learned alot from this site. Thanks to everyone. We are new to GoatWorld and goats. Aquired 3 this spring for my son's 4-H project. We have 2 nubian does (5mos now) and a Boer wether (6 mos.) Despite some rounds with respiratory nuisances, everyone has grown really well. The girls weigh 63 and 69 pounds and the Boer around 95#. Our county fair is in 5 weeks. Big problem. Afraid the Boer may have ringworm. Some folks who know goats have looked at him and are not sure. It didn't seem to start as typical ringworm. He had a small, scaly skin tag area under his left shoulder when he came in April. It didn't change any until about 3 weeks ago he seemed to "kick it" off. Size of the end of an index finger and open. Doctored with iodine for about 1 1/2 weeks. We switched over to a collegen treatment from one of the livestock suppliers. This helped heal the "weeping sore" but we now have mutiple scaly pustules on the shoulder and some broken hair in some spots across his shoulders. I am scrubbing daily with joy and warm water and applying an iodine gel. Any other ideas, do goats psoriasis or staph? He doesn't appear sick and has a big appetite. Mary Mc
