Don't tube if nothing is coming from the other end. Tubing on a goat is exactly the same for your lambs. A trick is to put the mouth end of the tube into water, bubbles and you are in the lung. Make sure your tube is long enough to not only go into the stomach but to have a good foot of tube left, this way you can hold it up high and let it gravity feed into the kid. Forcing it with a syringe is something I don't do. I do use a large syringe but I don't have the plunger on it, just holding it up so I can count the ounces going in. I don't tube any more than 4 ounces at a time, not tubing again until the kid pees. This is just how I am comfortable doing this, if a kid has a blockage, you will be overfilling the stomach and making the kid die in pain. I know what I am comfortable doing and what I am not. A kid that is first nursing a nipple than regresses to needing to be tube fed, is not something I am willing to keep. Vicki
