No the answers are not better, they are just different, and everyone needs several points of view to choose from.
Milking is supply and demand just like if you nursed your babies. Stop taking the milk and the brain tells the body to stop producing the oxytocin for let down and the milk supply diminishes. So the grain decreasing is fine if she is an excellent milker, but you must let the udder get full. When it is over full, which makes you uncomfortable to look at it, than relieve her, but only a small amount, say a cup out of each side. Then in two or three days you may need to relieve her again. Take to much out and you aren't drying her up! After awhile you will see that she is not making more milk, you can take this opportunity to milk her out all the way, and be warned the milk may not look normals, with some of the solids being absorbed, and dry cow her. I always use a dry cow infusion on lactations that are cut short, or on does who have had mastitis or weird milk during the lactation.
I stop cold turkey milking and doing the above routine on most does, unless they are milking more than 4 pounds, or 1 quart. If they are milking more than this than I go to once a day milking, doing very much like Sherry, only 1/2 milking the udder twice a day for about a week, then going to once a day, then going to the above routine once the supply is down.
