Thank you for all the wonderful 4H ideas. I really want our goat project to grow in our county. We have had 2 meeting so far. First was an orgainziational one. See what the kids wanted to do. Talked about Friday fun night at fair. That's our milk out! We have a potluck for the kids and family. This year, we are having a goat fashion show. The goats walk down the runway and tell about thier outfits. In the past, they have had a costume contest. Then, we are having a goat quiz bowl with the exhibitors. Following up with the milk out. Anyone can participate.

In hopes to generate more goat interest, we are putting up a county map titled, Where in Jefferson Co. are all the goats. You put a pin on the map, as to were your goats live. Anyone, who walks through the barn can do this. We are making a brouchure that they can take with the details of jr. and open class. I'm also going to put a sign up sheet out to see if we would have enough interest to start a County Goat Club.

I also sat at the puter for a couple of hours one afternoon, and came up with a Goat Project Book. This book is fun for the kids to fill out. Tells us how they take care of their goats. There is room for pictures. It will be turned in after the show, and we are going to pick the best book, and award a trophy at the herdsmenship awards. The kids then get their books back, and that becomes thier goat part of thier 4H project book. I've gotten nothing but wonderful reveiws on this book, from parents to the kids. I've attended a goat show, and science day in 2 other counties, and they love it too.

A couple of years ago, pet class was added to our fair show. That's for the kids who have wethers, pygmys or just don't want to show Dairy Goats. The kids are judged on how well they know thier goat and the goat them. All kids are signed up to be in the showmanship ring too.

Well, I've rambled enough. But I'm still looking for MORE ideas!

Thanks again Jane
