What about planning a day trip, hiking with goats? You could build up to the big event by having a few meetings teaching kids how to train a pack animal, and how to make packs. Talk about converstaion, and the importance of beeing enviromentally friendly when hiking, ect? Then one weekend go on a nice picnic hike, having the goats carry the supplies!

Could be tough depending on the age of the kids, and depends on what everyone's situation is but crossed my mind as a fun event to try!
