Actually every time you run a fecal you should see some cocci, unless your feed contains rumensin, the only med right now that depletes all lifecycles of cocci in the system, even the benign ones which help your goats build immunity. It is alot like seeing worm eggs in fecal, just because there are some doesn't mean you need to worm. Worm eggs can be in the 200 range this time of year before we worm, where in the fall in the 2000 parts per gram before we worm. With cocci, I know the numbers are in the thousands before you would need to cocci treat normally. I simply use a cocci prevention orally, and then have lasalocid at 30 grams per ton in my kid feed. I use sulfaquinoxiline, you can get it from jefferslivestock.com or pipevet.com I use the 20% solution and it is dosed at only 2cc per 50 pounds, I give it to all my kids at 3 weeks old for 5 days, in their bottle. If you have to give it by mouth, than add some kero syrup to it. I give this every three weeks, until they are eating at least 1 pound per day of our medicated feed.
This is what I would do for all your kids. Your adults and yearling wouldn't need any cocci prevention unless stressed or ill. By the time a doe is a yearling they have built up their own immunity to whatever you have at your place. I do use my kid feed on newly purchased does, who are stressed, so that their cocci levels don't rise while in quaranteen. Vicki
