We purchased a doeling at a OMGA sale the end of March,she was born 01/27/01,she weighed 21 lbs. She was one of triplets. She was wormed at the time of sale, we wormed her again on 6/12, used 1/4 cc pour on ivomec as an oral and 1/4 cc injectable ivomec s.q. She is only 23 lbs at the present time. She eats well and acts fine but is so small and we are worried that mabey she needs more worming or has another problem that we are not aware of. She does tire easily , like when we trimmed her hooves, had to hold her up as she became unsteady. I am sure she should be gaining some weight as our other dolings the same age are doing much better. Sorry if I sound like a rambling dummy but we have been use to raising Angus beef and the joy we are getting from our new goats is great, but they are so different from cows and I am sometimes a big worrier......Guess my question is, Can or should we worm again so soon ? Or use a higher dosage of medicine? Or what? I am getting concerned, I don't want to end up loosing her. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance....Love this Goatworld message forum and the Goatworld web site,Hope to be able to help out someone else with info some day.
