I guess the first thing that comes to mind is foot rot. Is it wet where you are or they were by chance. Somehow that doesn't quite make sense if they were running and jumping about one day and the next.... To tell if its foot rot or not pick up the foot, look between the toes, real good and up high, the first thing is a smell will hit ya and second you should be able to see the rot. As for the lumps. Its hard to tell what that may have been but Cl sure comes to mind. Maybe it was abug bite.... hopefully.
