My answers are always the same, but if she is valuable to you get it fixed while she is young. My daughters best doe kidded with a doeling with a navel hernia. Since we could push it back up into the belly with her upside down, we just trussed her with vet wrap to hold it up inside. It did appear to work, she was Grand Junior LaMancha at the Houston Livestock Show, came home to kid in April with a very pronounced hernia after pushing. To the vet she went, then on to A&M. During the surgery she had some bleeding, controling the bleeding also cauterised the milk vein. She came home and was fine, but with no blood flow to the udder, her udder became shriveled....to make a long story short I chose to put her down rather than have a mastectomy.
This is one of the stories that shows you to either cull the kid at birth for a known fault or fix it. Faults have a way of causing more problems as the animal ages. Bite faults being the worst. Vicki
