Hi all..
Well, I am one of the newbies. I have trimmed my goats hooves in the past, and I can't say I enjoy the experience. I'm always afraid of cutting too close, and drawing blood. I have pygmies, and hold them in my lap on their backs and do the cutting. I was wondering if this "laying on the back" method was harmful.....it's kind of the positions that they use to sheer sheep. Anyway, I wanted to share a tip I read somewhere, that I am currently experimenting with. I bought some of those concrete square stones. I place the goats feeding pans on them, and also the hay. Supposedly, the concrete will ware down the hooves. Just a thought. I'll let you all know how it works.
