Re: CANNING GOAT MILK?

I canned over 70 gallons of milk last year! Had the stuff stacked all over the place and it fed this year's babies well!
I filter the milk into clean quart jars and put hot lids on. Place in a bath canner. Cover the jars with hot water and slowly bring to a soft boil. Once the water is boiling, continue to simmer for one hour. Place jars on a towel to cool. I used the milk to cook with during the winter as we don't drink any milk unless the goats are fresh and then used it to supplement the baby's milk after they got here. The cream gets kind of thick at the top of the jar sometimes. I run it through the blender if I need to. I've read that canned milk can be used to make hard cheeses like cheddar but doesn't do well for soft cheese. Happy Canning!
