Denise, I know what trouble you're having. When I first got my goats they turned over the pan, and wasted a lot of soda. Then I put it in a small bucket and hung it on the gate. They couldn't spill it then, but they sure could poop in it! So when I made a no waste mineral feeder (see goatworld articles) I made one for baking soda. It's great! I mix kelp and loose mineral in one, and provide baking soda in the other. P.S. I got 50lbs. at the feed store here in IN for about $12.00.
