Oh! Nat! If it is truly just the skin than I wouldn't use the penicillin unless you are wet their. I would clean it really well, dry it and super glue it back together. It is easy to do especially if as you hold it together you have somebody apply the superglue. Once it has healed together, in about 3 days, comfrey is great for healing wounds fast and keeping scaring to a minimum. I buy it at my local health food store in a little tub. My mom the horse gal swears by Aloe Heal, around the same idea. Do not use blue coat, iodine etc, way to harsh and its going to stain. Any 300,000 unit penicillin is dosed at 3cc per 50 pounds given twice a day to ill does, for wound infection I just give it once a day. Loading doses for ill goats can be given IM but we give all other shots subq. But fileted open skin wouldn't be a wound that I would use it on. Easy for me to say I am not even going to the NATIONALS!!! Vicki Keep us informed!
