I would also use Ivermectin 1% cattle injectable, and this time inject it under his skin at 1cc per 110 pounds. This will get the problem if it is a mite. Hoof or rain scald will do exactly this that you describe, and the best thing to do is to prevent it. Build him a bed in his shed and perhaps a couple of beds out in his pasture, to get up off the wet ground, he will lay in the sun with his feet up and cure this by himself. If all you have to use is pallets, than put a solid top of plywood screwed down on them so he doesn't get his feet stuck in the slats. Koopertox is fine for his hooves, but tie him to the fence till they dry, so that he doesn't chew on his feet with this freshly on. In our woods barn I have a sheet of plywood, 4x8 up about 3 feet in the corner, the does will lie on the top and the younger animals scurry underneath. Out in all the pastures I have 4x4's with plywood screwed to the top, gives everybody little platforms to stand and lay on. Electrical spools are great but very hard to come by up here. Our problems are the pinestraw under the trees, and all the humidity makes for wet grass every morning. Good luck with your guy. Vicki
