I agree with all that Vicki has offered. I will add that the price on PB and registered boers is dropping. I imagine to the north it will remain higher for a longer period of time. I would not assume the cheaper animal is inferior to the higher priced animal. inspect both and make a decision based on the animal not the price. Several boer breeders have bemoaned to me the price drop. I was looking to purchase a few more does and contacted one breeder(who shows and wins, does the performance tests, the works) the initial price was $400, I felt that was high and resigned to wait. She called back 3-4wks later offering them at $200 as the market simply wouldn't support the initial price. Best goats I've seen outside a few at the Houston livestock show(saw some really poor show animal there as well though) are a commercial herd in Bay City TX. A few registered animals, the buck and a few does. EXCELLENT founder stock produces good goats down the line irregardless of price.
