Supply and demand is the key. If your prices are only going to be the 100 to 125$ than no you can't afford to be buying your foundation does for 3 or 4 hundred dollars. What does it cost you a year to keep a doe? With taxes just done you should have this amount pretty handy. Grain, hay, meds, wormers etc. You simply have to sell her kids for a profit. If prices are not as good in your area as they are elsewhere than use the internet for your sales. I think this is where going to shows helps, and also having your stock in shows. We can become barn blind, thinking our stock is the same quality as anothers, but up next to them in the ring, it is very easy to see what we are lacking. If you are breeding for top quality breeding stock, than certainly don't settle for the 125$ offer. In all pedigreed animals, dogs, horses, goats etc. they are only as good as the reputation of the breeder. Vicki
