I have a beautiful little doe from excellent stock that also had a third teat when she was born. The family that I got her from had it removed by a vet. They also showed the doe and she took reserve champion in her class. She freshened this year and the scar is more visible than it was but not grossly so. However she is a good milker and I plan to keep her. I won't sell any bucks from her because of the third teat as I've read they pass the trait on. And wouldn't you know it, she had the best looking buckling on the place this year....Oh well, it's just part of it I guess.

I've read that some people remove the teat when the doe is young and some people wait until the doe has freshened to make sure the functional teat isn't removed in error. I don't know which is the best way since I've never had to do it.

If it were me, I wouldn't give up on her. I'm glad I bought the one I have. Good Luck making your decision.
