I beg to differ science does not have the gender question "all figured out" (other than that xx =female and xy =male)There was an article published last fall (I believe since I cannot find it and don't have time to look)It was sent to me a publisher that I work for and was from a cattle breed journal (Limosin,Charolais?) they were thinking about publishing it. It was a good article on advances in AI and one of the things it refferred to was the possibilty of separating a sperm sample by gendar. Two of the most successful ways of separating a sample were by changing the pH of the environment and by centrifuging the sample. It also mentioned that they were having some success in influencing gender by adjusting when the cow was bred. Which they believed was due to differing behaviour of male and female sperm. (ie the male sperm move faster but have a shorter life span).
If you are only looking at the science of breeding you are missing the boat. Science knows nothing for certain and theories that were considered 'witchcraft'a generation ago are being proven true today.(i.e hand washing being a better disease prevention than antibiotics)
