*2nd try...First one accidentally blipped off into cyberspace before I was done with it...grrrr!*
Howdy Eve,
I enjoy using the herbs that I find growing all around our place -hey, they are free medicine!
Plantain for insect bites, sunburn relief... Jewelweed for poison Ivy(completely takes away itch and redness)... Mullien for respiratory help... Also,United Plant Savers has a large sanctuary in my county, which is kind of neat too!
As for goats- I've not tried anything yet. I am allergic to Iodine so I suppose I'll use Tea Tree Oil- (sparingly/neat form) as an antiseptic. It comes from a tree in Australia and is a common product there. We (((LOVE))) the stuff even though it smells strongly, and tastes terrible. Best thing I ever had for canker sores- clears them up lickety split!
I like to read and post over at the alt.folklore.herbs newsgroup! Lots of helpful folks there.
