Yes ear tags can be used, and I know folks who put them on their goats collars. I would however feel that anything with enough insecticide in it to really keep the flies away could also be harmful to goats who chew on each others fly tags. You may want to use a pouron like Cylence, make sure your grain has no mollasas in it, put out stink bait type fly lures, make sure and place these away from the barns, you don't want to lure them to your barn. Also Golden Malrin works really well, either sprinkled in the barns, while the girls are locked out, or hung in socks, which are sprayed with water each night, the flies light on the socks to sleep and die in droves!
