I might have a sick doe. She kidded on 4/28 with no difficulties and passed her afterbirth. She has never seemed to get over the post-birthing recovery. Also, she has a hard spot on the top back of her udder up where it connects to her body. She is not eating as much grain or hay as I'd like, but she is in good condition. She may have CL so the lump could be an abscess. She is milking fairly well (about 12 lb. per day) and the milk is normal colored and not at all stringy. Her temp. was 102.7 this a.m., but foolish me, I don't have a baseline temp. for her so that could be normal for all I know. She is just still that little bit off all around. She is not my doe (she actually belongs to a friend of mine) and I do have the vet coming Thursday for shots and to check out what I think is a CL abscess on her side (although that is another story .... that lump has been forming for 9 months). In my experience, if I call the vet when the animal is just a little bit off, he usually can't make a diagnosis. He needs to see some signs that are a little more concrete. Any advice?
