It sounds very much like urinary calculi. It is a painful and often fatal condition which requires the immediate attention of a vet.

Major surgery is not always required. My goat had a lower urethral blockage, resulting in total blockage, which was surgically removed. We caught it just in time. He has now been healthy and well for nearly five years with no recurrence.

We no longer allow our goats any access to sweet feed, (goats get locked up when horses are fed) and provide very small amounts of goat feed which include AC. (I believe that access to sweet feed was a major contributing factor in our case.) There are also commercial goat water acidifiers which do much the same (goat acid pack). I believe Caprine Supply or Meadowmate carries them. Best wishes and please give us an update.
