Hi, The breeding of "step siblings" would be what is called 1/2 brother X 1/2 sister.
I love line breeding. But you have to be prepared to cull out the infreior animals. You tend to get the best and worst possible results.
I use the triangle method in my breding program also. I have found works best for me is breeding back to the grand parent level. i.e. doe bred back to grandsire or buck bred back to a granddam.
You have to understand a bit about how genitics works and then learn as much about the family group you are working in.
In breeding is the fastest way to prove how valid your breeding program is. As you will see the resulting faults and strengths more quickly than where the genes are spread out more.
