What I do when I get a goat that is leary of me, or does not want me around, I just get a comfortable chair, and sit in the pen with them, reading, or doing whatever, for how long it takes - except showing them that I am paying attention to them, I always have treats in my pocket, so they always pick up on that smell, so they have to approach, and be the one asking for the attention, and I will give them small pieces of the treat, so they get closer, and they do the touching first. If they are really standing back, then I will eat a snack that they just happen to like too, always works for us, do it for a few days, and they are usually begging you to come to them by then.
