Here I am again with another question. KoraJean returned from a breeding trip on Sunday. She just didn't seem herself to me. Acting quiet, but with a normal temp. She has yellow discharge from her eye, and today she has a little yellow-white discharge from her nose. She is eating hay-just picking at grain-but more than willing to eat raisins. I gave her probios yesterday. I called the vet-spoke to him through the receptionist-he said it sounds like an upper respiratory infection-and to medicate with either LA-200, or Nuflor. I've read till I'm blue in the face, and I have found that many suggest only medicating for URI if they are quite sick, otherwise, just clean the eyes and nose, and monitor. I don't want to jump into antibiotics if it isn't necessary. Should I ask the vet to make a farm call?? Are these antibiotics safe to give if she is pregnant?? What route should they be given-SQ or IM? So many questions-paranoid Mommy-sorry.
